Here are some great places to visit for field
trips in Calgary:
- Bow Habitat Station
"Explore through hands-on displays and exhibits about Alberta's
fish, wildlife, and water." They have lots of family friendly

- Butterfield Acres Farm
Butterfield Acres is an educational farm with lots of attractions
and programs.
They are located in the very north and west part of Calgary -

They have tons of educational materials that are great for home
schoolers, including:
- free courses, in person.
- books you can download and read at home.
- videos on history, science (like Bill Nye), art, math, etc.
- Digital Library (calgarylibrary.ca/read-learn-and-explore/digital-library)
- free courses, online - see Gale Courses,
LinkedIn Learning.
- Solaro, The Alberta Study Guides Online
- National Geographic for Kids, and similar
resources.
- ArtistWorks, for free online music classes.
- a whole bunch of other great resources.
- and of course, they have lots of real books you can borrow,
too.

- Glenbow Museum
A pass is highly recommended by several hs'ers who have used
them. They have lots of hands-on stuff, and they change these
regularly. They don't have home school events, but if you get
a group of 10 or more homeschooled children together, you can
register for the school programs.

- Hangar Flight Museum
If your home schooler is intersted in vintage aircraft and aviation
history, check out the Hangar Flight Museum (formely the Aero
Space Museum).

Arts Museum)
The Nickle Galleries is at the U of C. Admission is free
(you just have to pay for parking). The collection is now located
in the new library building, called the Taylor Family Digital
Library, or TFDL. See their site for information on what is on
